Maintenance
Maintenance refers to the activities required to keep equipment, machinery, and facilities in good working order. The goal is to maximize asset uptime, extend the lifespan of equipment, and prevent unexpected failures. Maintenance can be categorized into different types. Preventive maintenance involves scheduled inspections and servicing to avoid breakdowns. Corrective maintenance (or repair) is performed after a failure has occurred to restore the asset to a functional state. Predictive maintenance uses data and sensors to forecast when maintenance is needed, allowing for more efficient planning.
